The holidays have come to an end and so we bade goodbye to the year that was—2012. Most of us are already thinking– what does 2013 have in store for us? The best thing about a new year is that it brings new hope and a fresh start to all of us. However, it can also be quite frightening because we can never know what it will bring.

For those of you who are getting excited about what the boat industry has waiting for us. Well, here are some predicted boat trends that we are expected to see in various trade shows this 2013:

More Stand up Paddle Boards
Stand Up Paddle boarding or SUP is now considered as the fastest growing water sport all over the states. More and more people are falling in love with this water sports because of the simplicity and ease of the mechanics of this water sports. Most boat trade shows are expected to feature a wide array of various stand up paddle board designs.
Downsized boat vessels
With the increasing costs of various materials and tools, downsizing of vessels on all categories of boats will be a great trend this 2013. Cost of boat vessels are expected to increase this year and boat owners are trying to find a way to lessen these costs. In response to this need, micro skiffs will be one of the greatest trend and innovation this year. Microskiffs are small fishink skiffs that can carry only one to two persons at a time. It is a combination of a paddleboard and a fishing kayak.
Incorporation of smart technology in boats
The increasing popularity of smartphones and tablet PCs have given the marine industry a great idea. This 2013, the marine industry will take boating into a whole new level. Tablet PC’s can be used to operate the navigation systems aboard.
